QHSE Manager - Falkland Islands

About the role

Mitie Defence Limited is looking for an experienced QHSE Manager to join its South Atlantic team in the Falkland Islands. Reporting to the QHSE Lead, you will support the delivery of quality, health, safety and environmental standards across operations, working with operational teams, managers and contractors so that work is done safely, effectively and in line with legislation, company procedures and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of QHSE management systems across the South Atlantic account.
• Give practical QHSE advice and guidance to operational managers, employees and contractors.
• Carry out workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Support incident investigations, find root causes and ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken.
• Promote a positive safety culture through workforce engagement, communication and sharing of good practice.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work to ensure suitable controls are in place.
• Support compliance with applicable legislation, Defence requirements, company policies and industry standards.
• Deliver QHSE training at all levels and support performance reporting and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a QHSE or health and safety role, preferably in facilities management, Defence or a similar operational environment.
• A recognised health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience undertaking audits, inspections, incident investigations and implementing improvement actions.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a remote overseas location.
