Dental Officer – 1 Year Fixed‑Term in Falkland Islands

About the role

The Falkland Islands Health Service is seeking a Dental Officer to join its team at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Stanley for a one‑year fixed‑term contract. You will deliver a full range of dental services to the local population, including emergency care and community programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose and treat patients, providing comprehensive dental care.
• Participate in community dental initiatives such as school screenings and domiciliary visits.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Islands’ Oral Health Strategy.
• Assist the Senior Dental Officer with planning improvements, including the rollout of an orthodontic service.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with a minimum of two years’ experience as a general dental practitioner.
• Registration with the UK General Dental Council or an equivalent recognised body, maintained throughout the appointment.
• Commitment to high‑quality patient care and the ability to work effectively in a busy practice.
• Flexibility to be on‑call during weekends, bank holidays and public holidays.
