Dental Officer – One Year Fixed‑Term in Falkland Islands

About the role

The FIG Health & Social Services Department is seeking a Dental Officer to join the Dental Service at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Stanley. This one‑year fixed‑term position offers a unique opportunity to deliver comprehensive oral health care in the Falkland Islands while enjoying an adventurous lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a full range of dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatments to the local population.
• Deliver emergency dental care and routine services in three fully equipped surgeries.
• Participate in community programmes such as school screenings and domiciliary visits.
• Assist in developing and maintaining the Islands’ Oral Health Strategy.
• Support the Senior Dental Officer in launching the new Orthodontic Service and expanding community outreach.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery with at least 2 years of general dental practice experience.
• Registration with the UK General Dental Council or an equivalent recognised body, maintained throughout the contract.
• Commitment to high‑quality patient care and the ability to work effectively in a busy practice.
• Flexibility to be on‑call during weekends, bank holidays and public holidays.
