Pharmacist (Falkland Islands)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Pharmacist to join the sole pharmacy in the Falkland Islands, based at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Stanley. The role is a fixed‑term position of up to four years, offering a unique professional and personal adventure in a remote community.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day‑to‑day operation of the pharmacy department.
• Supervise three Pharmacy Technicians and a Pharmacy Assistant.
• Undertake core dispensary tasks as needed.
• Develop and maintain the hospital drug formulary.
• Monitor compliance with the formulary and promote evidence‑based prescribing.
• Lead the smoking cessation clinic and other primary health clinics.
• Collaborate with clinical colleagues to ensure safe, economic, and effective use of medicines.

Required profile

• Master of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent).
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or equivalent body.
• Minimum three years post‑registration experience in a multidisciplinary team.
• Management and staff training experience.
• Ability to adapt to remote, close‑knit community living.
• Flexibility and willingness to work in varied ways.
