Offshore Petroleum Health and Safety Team Leader

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead health and safety regulation for offshore petroleum developments in the Falkland Islands as the territory prepares for its first oil production in 2028. You will join a newly established regulatory framework and help shape the safety standards for a live oil industry.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of inspectors and manage a robust offshore inspection programme.
• Oversee implementation of health and safety legislation and respond to incidents, conducting investigations as required.
• Develop industry guidance, standards and operational strategy for offshore petroleum projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contribute to continuous improvement of safety practices.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years’ experience in health and safety regulation within the UK oil and gas sector, including safety case assessment.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and its practical application.
• Demonstrated management or leadership experience in a technical or regulatory environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Motivated, initiative‑driven and able to work independently.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a health and safety discipline, or comparable training and experience.
• Valid BOSIET, CA‑EBS, OPITO MIST and OEUK medical (or willingness to obtain them) and a driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word.
• Certification in BOSIET, CA‑EBS, OPITO MIST and OEUK medical.
