Chief of Police – Royal Falkland Islands Police

About the role

The Royal Falkland Islands Police is seeking a visionary Chief of Police to lead policing across the islands. Reporting directly to the Governor and the Director of Emergency Services & Island Security, you will shape the service at a pivotal moment, building on recent audits and cultural reforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all policing disciplines, including community policing, safeguarding, and criminal investigation.
• Develop and implement resource plans that deliver best‑value outcomes.
• Set and enforce high standards of professional conduct and integrity.
• Collaborate with British Forces South Atlantic Islands and other senior leaders in a multi‑agency environment.
• Drive change and professionalisation across the service.

Required profile

• 10+ years of successful UK police experience, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial or advisory role (experience must be within the last 36 months if returning to policing).
• Proven track record of leading multi‑agency responses under JESIP principles.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve operational incidents confidently.
• Strong communication skills across all levels, from constables to government officials.
• Commitment to empathy, compassion, and respectful leadership.

• Competitive salary of £75,811–£86,899 per annum, plus Flexible Duty Allowance and a 25% taxable gratuity on contract completion.
