About the role
We are seeking an experienced Smart Hands / Network Field Engineer to support an on‑site Cisco Wireless LAN Controller deployment in Stanley, Falkland Islands. You will work directly at the customer site while coordinating with a remote engineering team.
Key responsibilities
- Rack, install and connect two Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers, including power and network cross‑connects.
- Verify switchport availability, install SFP modules, fiber and Ethernet cabling, and perform cut‑over activities.
- Provide remote‑hands support, troubleshoot basic connectivity issues, and document completion with site photos.
- Remove, label and pack legacy WLC equipment for return shipment when required.
Required profile
- Previous rack‑and‑stack experience with network equipment.
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco networking gear and Smart Hands/Remote Hands field service.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions from remote engineers and communicate status updates.
Required skills
- Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controller installation.
- Network cabling and fiber connectivity (SFP modules, fiber patch cables, Ethernet cables).
- Use of PuTTY and TFTP for device configuration.
- Standard network installation toolkit, console cable (USB‑A to USB‑B), crossover cable, and laptop.
