Data Center Technician - Onsite Break/Fix Assignment

About the role

Sharp Brains is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support an onsite Nutanix infrastructure break/fix assignment in Stanley, Falkland Islands. The technician handles server hardware troubleshooting, component replacement, physical infrastructure checks and coordinates with remote technical teams to resolve service tickets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform onsite troubleshooting and break/fix support for server and data center hardware.
• Identify and replace faulty components such as hard drives, SSDs, RAM, power supplies and cooling fans, as authorized.
• Provide hands-on support for Nutanix infrastructure and related server hardware.
• Follow instructions from remote engineers and the Sharp Brains service delivery team.
• Verify hardware status and system functionality after repairs.
• Capture clear photos of equipment, replaced components and completed work.
• Maintain accurate ticket updates and submit service reports upon completion.
• Follow customer site access, safety and change-management procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in data center support, server hardware maintenance or IT infrastructure break/fix.
• Experience working in enterprise data centers or server rooms.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and follow technical instructions.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and attend the assigned onsite dispatch.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of server components and hardware replacement procedures.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with Nutanix infrastructure or hyperconverged environments.
• Preferred: experience with enterprise server platforms such as Dell, HPE or Lenovo.
• Preferred: familiarity with remote-hands support and ticket-based service delivery.

What we offer

• Independent contractor engagement on an onsite, dispatch-based assignment.
• Paid at USD $30 per hour, USD $110 for a half-day and USD $200 for a full day; exact schedule, scope, tools and payment arrangements confirmed before the work is assigned.
