Electrician – Maintenance for UK Defence in Falklands

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to join the Electrical Maintenance Team supporting the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) estate in the Falkland Islands. The role involves delivering planned preventative maintenance, installations, inspections, testing, fault finding and reactive repairs across a wide range of technical and domestic facilities in a unique defence environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of low‑voltage systems throughout the MOD estate.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical equipment and installations.
• Maintain, repair and test hazardous‑area systems, catering equipment and fire‑alarm systems.
• Diagnose faults and undertake remedial work to keep assets safe, compliant and operational.
• Interpret and work from electrical drawings, installation diagrams, circuit diagrams and line schematics.
• Update technical drawings where required to ensure accurate records.

Required profile

• Qualified electrician with relevant certifications.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, overseas environment.
• Willingness to adhere to health, safety and defence regulations.
