Senior Project Manager – South Atlantic Islands

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead capital‑works projects across the South Atlantic Islands, reporting to the Assistant Head of Major Programmes and Projects. Based at Mount Pleasant Complex, the role combines on‑site coordination with remote liaison to UK‑based teams.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between the UK project team, British Forces South Atlantic Islands, Defence Infrastructure Organisation, technical service providers and construction contractors.
• Manage industry partners through procurement processes, ensuring compliance with MOD contracts and standards.
• Oversee contract performance, monitoring quality, schedule, cost and reliability, and address issues promptly to avoid delays.
• Control project finances within approved budgets, providing accurate reporting and forecasting to senior management.
• Conduct project assurance reviews at key milestones to evaluate progress, compliance and delivery confidence.
• Coordinate integrated project teams to deliver projects on time, within cost and to required quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering infrastructure programmes and capital‑works projects.
• Strong competence in project and programme management methodologies.
• Ability to motivate and develop multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience working in remote or high‑tempo environments with frequent travel.

Required skills

• Project Management (PRINCE2, PMBOK)
