Joiner / Carpenter - Falkland Islands

About the role

Mitie is recruiting a Joiner/Carpenter in the Falkland Islands to work within its Minor Works and Joinery team. You will maintain and improve facilities supporting UK Defence operations, carrying out carpentry, repair and maintenance work across the estate, both independently and as part of a skilled team.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out response, repair, maintenance and minor works carpentry across the estate.
• Install, repair and maintain doors, windows, glazing and joinery components.
• Erect timber and metal stud partitions, timber frames and ceiling systems.
• Interpret drawings, take measurements and prepare material schedules.
• Install floor coverings such as vinyl flooring where needed.
• Operate joinery workshop machinery after training and follow safe systems of work.
• Manage materials, keep accurate store, labour and job records and submit approved overtime documentation.
• Work in line with Mitie and Ministry of Defence processes and quality standards.

Required profile

• GCSE education or equivalent.
• Working towards passing the CITB or IOSH Health & Safety test.
• Attained or working towards an approved apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry, Joinery or a related woodworking discipline.
• Fire door installation certification or qualification.
• Experience in general carpentry and construction-related work.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure, with minimal supervision.
• Desirable: at least three years' carpentry or joinery experience, use of woodworking machinery, and previous overseas work.
