Minor Works Manager

About the role

Mitie is looking for a Minor Works Manager to deliver profitable, safe and on-time minor works and projects up to £25k to the required quality standards and specification, within budget. The role covers airfield pavement and road inspections, supervision of the DEL team and Tier 1 works, and acts as duty manager on a rota.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all minor works below £25k and oversee the DEL team supervisors and Tier 1 related works
• Carry out airfield pavement and road inspections, produce reports with recommendations and attend WiP meetings under £25k
• Control costs so commitment value never exceeds the firm price, and organise workload to minimise lost time
• Ensure compliance with legislation, the Mitie Health and Safety Policy and quality system, and coordinate high-risk tasks with the QSHE Manager
• Act as duty manager on a rota and respond to emergency call-outs
• Keep meticulous records, labour records and overtime sheets, with valid risk assessments and method statements in place
• Enter all works accurately into the Maximo IT system, maintain percentages and progress, and work with the Minor Works administrator on invoicing
• Qualify and act as Authorised Person for masts and towers and confined spaces, and control suppliers, contractors and consultants

Required profile

• Suitably experienced in the construction industry, with experience in facilities management maintenance and construction
• SMSTS or equivalent qualification, and ability to design detailed specifications, read drawings and produce designs
• Full driving licence, computer literacy (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Web Access)
• Proven project management experience, self-motivated, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Desirable: PFI, civils or refurbishment background, experience in the Falkland Islands or abroad, meticulous record keeping, supervisory experience
